Neighbor & Brooklyn College Student Seeks Local Home For Thesis Filming
Gabrielle Altheim, neighborhood resident and filmmaking student at Brooklyn College, is looking for a local home in which to shoot her upcoming thesis A Night Like This. Altheim describes the project:
Jane is a 15-year-old girl going through the typical problems of teenage-hood. She has a well-meaning but out-of-touch mom who doesn’t understand her, a father who’s AWOL, and a hopeless crush on Aaron, the hottest guy in school.
In agreeing to help popular classmate Anabel in a desperate moment, Jane is presented with the chance to have it all: the invite to that party, a chance to get Aaron to finally notice her, and the rebellion she’s never quite managed on her own. But at what cost?
“Personally, I’m very interested in exploring the themes inherent in a story about identity and coming of age, particularly when it comes to women,” says Gabrielle on the film’s Indiegogo page. “By addressing universal themes through a young girl’s eyes, using my perspective and sensitivity as a young woman, I hope to shed light upon the human condition as a whole.”
Gabrielle and her team are currently photographing local homes (specifically exteriors, living room, dining/kitchen, and bedroom areas) they believe might work well as filming locations for A Night Like This. They will be filming Friday, November 15 to Sunday, November 17, and will need to be present at the chosen location either Thursday night to Friday night, or Saturday morning to Sunday evening.
They are fully insured by Brooklyn College and are working with the full cooperation of the New York State Governor’s Office of Film as well as the New York City Mayor’s Office of Film, Theater and Broadcasting, and will obtain any needed permits for filming in the neighborhood.
