A Kensington resident is behind bars after he allegedly stole 52 bottles of vitamins from a Story Street home before leading police on a dramatic foot chase that ended with him being arrested in a house he ran into on Dahill Road around 4pm Thursday afternoon, the NYPD said.

According to the NYPD, Antonio Rivera, 24, who police said lives nearby on 35th Street, allegedly grabbed the vitamin bottles from the front porch of a home on Story Street, between Church Avenue and Louisa Street. When he was approached by police, he allegedly dropped the vitamins, jumped a fence and ran into a house on Dahill Road, also between Church Avenue and Louisa Street.

At least four squad cars responded to the scene on Dahill Road, just north of Church Avenue, Thursday, including a K-9 unit.  And soon a scrum of cops, in plainclothes and uniforms, were running in and out of backyards, standing on the roof, asking neighbors about the perp, or doing some sidewalk supervising. All the while people kept walking by, trying not to get in the way of the  cops doing their job.

A helicopter flew overhead. The NYPD took Rivera into custody, pressing his head down to get him into the car. Afterwards, they relaxed a bit and then left.
