Neck Rd and Avenue U Station Changes
(Neck Rd Station Construction – Photo by Ray Johnson)
When the overflowing garbage can was removed from the corner of Gravesend Neck Road and East 16 St, I figured that the only way for the New York City Transit Authority (NYCTA) to put an end to the outrageous illegal dumping problem was to take away the receptacle, entirely. As it turned out, the removal of the trash bin was to make way for the construction, not an effort to reduce illegal dumping.
Then the NYCTA announced that construction would begin on not just the Neck Road Station, but also on the Avenue U Station on the B and Q line. The major construction is expected to be a major inconvenience for at least one year, so let’s hope that the shuttle service will help keep Sheepshead Bay commuters’ last nerve from snapping.
This is an update: The link used in a previous edition of this post linked to an MTA brochure indicating changes for two weekends only. There is no link available at this time for the B/Q lines Avenue U & Neck Rd station changes. You can obtain a copy of the brochure at the stations or by calling the MTA Travel Information Line at (718) 330-1234.
