National Night Out Features Events At Fort Greene Park And Ingersoll Houses
Today is an opportunity to meet the police officers of the 88th Precinct at the National Night Out Against Crime event on Tuesday, August 2.
Developed in 1984, National Night Out began as an effort to “promote involvement in crime prevention activities, police-community partnerships, neighborhood camaraderie and to send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.” It is celebrated annually across the country on the first Tuesday in August.
The 88th Precinct event takes place today between 12pm-7pm at the corner of Dekalb Avenue and Washington Park at Fort Greene Park.
In addition, NYCHA Chair Shola Olatoye will join PSA 3 Commanding Officer Captain Charles Minch at Ingersoll Houses, where they will do a walk-through and discuss crime prevention. NYPD and community partners will have informational tables and there will be a BBQ for residents. NYCHA will be giving a proclamation. Children are welcome.
The event will take place at the Ingersoll Houses (Fleet Walk between Tillary and Myrtle Avenues) tonight, Tuesday, August 2 at 5pm. The Proclamation Program will begin at 5:30pm.
