BAY RIDGE — National Grid is in doing some work along 3rd Avenue Bay Ridge. You may smell gas.

The gas company is working in the area of 3rd Avenue Between 74th and 80th Streets. Work is scheduled to take place between of 8:00 am and 8:00 pm. on Friday, Jan. 11. The work may result in elevated gas order within the area, according to National Grid officials.

“The natural gas distribution system in the area has recently been upgraded resulting in newly installed main on 3rd Avenue between 74th Street and 80th Street,” said National Grid spokesperson, Domenick Graziani. “As part of this process, National Grid crews will be preparing the new pipe for gas service by injecting required odorant into the newly installed main.”
