Mushroom Watch 2012 Begins
Remember this past fall, when it was so wet that the mushroom population of the city went insane? Well, even though it’s been pretty dry recently, it already feels like we’re going to have another fascinating year for fungus spotting.
We’ve already seen some around the area back during the rainy month of May, and a brief bout of rain earlier this week may have helped get the one shown above growing. It seems to be some kind of stinkhorn, but someone with more mushroom knowledge out there please feel free to chime in on the identification.
So keep an eye out after these recent storms, particularly around the many tree stumps in the neighborhood, and you might see something interesting.
