MTA Preps For Snow, Plus Weekend Service Changes

MTA Preps For Snow, Plus Weekend Service Changes
G train at 4th/9th subway station

The MTA is getting ready for the big storm that’s expected to hit the city tonight and into tomorrow morning, and note that de-icers are ready to be deployed and snow and ice-busting equipment are getting fueled up, and they say stations will be staffed to de-ice platforms.

They have a guide to possible service changes in case of severe weather, which notes some lines with outdoor sections — including the F/G and B/Q — could be ones that experience delays or temporary suspensions. Additionally, some express service could be impacted, because they move trains underground in anticipation of heavy snow or ice.

As for buses, those are also being prepped, and the Department of Buses will work in cooperation with the Department of Sanitation to help with the salt spreading and snow fighting.

If you need to travel tonight and tomorrow morning, be careful out there, and give yourself some extra time to get around.

Once the snow has finished falling, there are some service changes still scheduled for this weekend:
