Pine Lake Park, located in nearby Northern Westchester, offers a surprisingly affordable and retro summer escape.  The 65-unit, 50-acre summer coop community is situated around a well-maintained lake, and while it’s less than an hour from NYC, it feels like a different world. Kids enjoy a “free-range” summer full of swimming and outdoor playtime in nature, while parents have tennis, basketball, hiking, biking, and dancing in a stunning old social hall.  Most weekends there are community BBQs at the lake.

Many Pine Lakers spend weekends from May to October, but they also steal away on a weekday to play tennis and swim, because at 1 hour away – they can.

  1. Great place, with wonderful people and activities for everyone!! Best of all, easy drive with no tolls, no thruway congestion- if you don’t have a car, hop on Metro-North- 50 minutes on express train with short cab ride to your bungalow!!

  2. This place is great! Not too fancy, lots of activities for the whole family, and close to NYC. My family has been going to PLP for ages, and we love it!

  3. Pine Lake Park is my HAPPY PLACE! Where else can you go where the kids (of all ages) play together and look after each other; where else can you go where your morning cup of coffee is out on your deck, your lunch is down at the lake and your dinner is a BBQ? On Saturday nights there are programs in the social hall and on some Friday nights there are lectures. Where else can you go when everyone considers you family and you consider everyone family? Join us!

  4. The weekly old school pickup basketball game has been going on since the 1940s – it’s a fun, competitive intergenerational game – very unique! The 4 tennis courts are also pretty amazing and there are a lot of players. There’s nothing better than a few hours of play followed by a swim and BBQ.
