Motorist Drives Into NetCost Market On Ocean Avenue

SHEEPSHEAD BAY – An 80-year-old motorist drove his 2018 Lexus into the storefront of the recently opened NetCost Market located at 3100 Ocean Avenue Tuesday morning.

The incident occurred at approximately 9:30am, an NYPD representative said. The male driver told responding officers that he mistakenly stepped on the accelerator pedal instead of the brake, causing him to drive into the building.

While the NYPD would not say if the driver was injured during the incident, a 72-year-old pedestrian reportedly received minor injuries, but she refused medical treatment at the scene.

No serious damage was caused to the building, the police representative added. The investigation is ongoing.
