BROWNSVILLE – A 49-year-old Prospect-Lefferts Gardens resident was killed over the weekend when his motorcycle collided with a vehicle on Ralph Avenue.

At approximately 4:30pm on Sunday, October 1, police responded to a call of motor vehicle collision involving a motorcycle at the intersection of Ralph Avenue and Park Place. Upon arrival, officers found Anthony Nelson unconscious and unresponsive with trauma to his head and body. EMS transported Nelson to Kings County Hospital where he was pronounced dead, police say.

An investigation conducted by the NYPD Highway District’s Collision Investigation Squad has determined that Nelson’s 2006 Kawasaki ZX10 motorcycle was traveling north on Ralph Avenue approaching the intersection of Park Place “at a high rate of speed.” A 2008 Honda CRV, traveling south on Ralph Avenue, attempted to make a left turn onto Park Place. Both drivers had a green light, according to police.

As the Honda CRV turned onto Park Place, police say that the motorcycle hit the rear passenger side of the SUV, throwing Nelson from his motorcycle and onto the ground. The driver of the Honda remained at the scene.

A police representative says that Nelson was allegedly riding recklessly, doing wheelies on the street prior to the incident. No arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing.
