Morning Mug: Big Sky Brooklyn

I have to say, this captivated me. Anyone who knows me knows, I am not a city girl at heart. Sure, I was born in Brooklyn and have spent most of my life in Sheepshead Bay, but there is something about the slower pace of life in more rural settings — the South, the Pacific Northwest, the West, up North — that has always captured my imagination. I cannot say that the lure of biscuits and gravy and re-runs of “The Andy Griffith Show” didn’t have what to do with it either.

Anyhow, from the photographer:

The Marine Park Nature Trail is now open. Those tall phragmites have been replaced by low lying coastal grasses. It’s a little bit of big sky country right in our backyard.

Maybe one of these days I will ride my bike over to this spot, roll out a blanket and just stare at the clouds while I dream about pilgrimages to the Big Sky of Montana, Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming, Idaho, and the Dakotas. Excuse me while I go off into a daydream again…
