Walking past 1045-1047 Fulton Street (between Downing Street and Classon Avenue) earlier this week, we thought we noticed additional scaffolding and netting had been erected atop the existing sidewalk shed–and our suspicions were confirmed by the Department of Buildings. According to the DOB, a complaint was filed on August 21 about scaffolding at the location (formerly Fairhaven Funeral Chapel) being installed without a permit, though an inspector found on August 25 that a permit for the work did indeed exist.

Permits have also been accepted, nearly nine months after initial applications were filed, for Gowanus’ Cole Partners Inc to demolish the buildings by mechanical means. The DOB even has a handy demolition checklist for the property.

As previously noted, the address is set to become a 28-unit, roughly 21,000 sq ft Karl Fischer building that the DOB classifies as mixed use, so at least one commercial entity can be expected along with the residential space.

With all that debris netting up, we expect the buildings to be demolished very soon.
