More Neighborhood Car Break Ins

Another neighbor’s car was broken into, this time near Ditmas and Argyle, early yesterday morning. He says the driver’s side window of his car, which was parked in the street, was smashed around 3:45am, although he discovered it at 6:30am.

Luckily, he says, no one was hurt, and nothing important was taken. He says the police were responding to more urgent calls when he reported the crime, but when they arrived two and a half hours later, they were very helpful.

“Bummer,” he says. “Don’t leave anything valuable (GPS, iPod, wallet) in the car, ever.”

Although this particular neighbor didn’t see any other cars broken into in the immediate vicinity, we spotted the remnants of two smashed car windows this afternoon–one on Marlborough between Beverley and Cortelyou, and one on Beverley between Rugby and Argyle (pictured above). The cars to which the windows once belonged were nowhere in sight.

Have you seen many smashed windows (attached to cars or left behind) around the ‘hood lately? And if you’ve been unlucky like our neighbor above, what’s your best advice for other drivers in the area?
