It’s official: after a planned move fell through, Monk’s Trunk owners Carrie McClaren and Elyssa Pierre LeBris plan to close their beloved Prospect Lefferts Gardens kids’ consignment store later this year. The silver lining? If you’re interested, you’re welcome to take over!

In a statement on Facebook, the Monk’s ladies say:

Would anyone like to run a children’s consignment store? We would be thrilled to hand off the business to someone interested in opening it in a commercial space. If you are seriously interested and have the capital to do it, please get in touch soon.

What do you think? Several DP residents expressed the desire for more kid-centric stuff in the area back in April, including a request specifically for a Monk’s-esque shop–and with all the new families in the neighborhood, you’d likely have no problem stocking enough inventory, or getting it bought right back off the floor. If you’re interested, give them a call at 718-398-9324 or email monkstrunk@gmail.com.

Even if you’re not ready to snap Monk’s up as a business, you can still snap up their final racks of goodies starting tomorrow from 10am-6pm. The store, located at 23 Hawthorne St. between Flatbush and Bedford Aves., will also be open Friday from 10-4, and Saturday and Sunday 10-6.
