Monday Is Tax Day!
Maybe you’ve forgotten, or maybe you just don’t want to think about it–but the fact is, taxes are due this coming Monday, April 15. We’ve assembled a list of local resources to make the process as painful as possible.
If you’re doing your own taxes:
- You can download forms online through the IRS website.
- TurboTax takes out the guesswork, but costs vary depending on which services you choose.
- TaxAct also claims to be a free service–but is that always true?
If you’re having your taxes done:
City Financial (763 Coney Island Ave. by Cortelyou Rd.) will be open until about 9pm tonight and Saturday (though your best bet is to arrive before 8:30pm), Sunday 12-5pm, and Monday until 9pm. Maria also says they can help with audit letters from the IRS, and are accepting walk-ins and appointments. Call 718-462-3080 for more info.- H & R Block (771 Coney Island Avenue by Cortelyou Rd.) will be open until 10pm tonight, from 9am-9pm Saturday and Sunday, and from 8am-10pm on Monday. - Syed Professional Services (1006 Coney Island Avenue by Newkirk Ave.) will be open until 7:30pm tonight, from 9am-7:30pm Saturday, and from 12-5pm on Sunday. They are accepting walk-ins and appointments. Call 718-859-5392 for Monday hours and more.
Of course, it’s best to call and double-check hours and availability before stopping into your chosen establishment.
