Mobile Service May Be Coming To All Underground Subway Stations
Q Train Subway Readers

We may soon lose one of the last excuses for missing a phone call. The MTA is working on a deal with Verizon to offer cell phone service to cover all 277 underground subway stations, which could be complete as soon as 2017. There are already 30 stations in the system with service (all in Manhattan), and 40 more in Manhattan and Queens will get coverage next year.

With our part of the B/Q line running outdoors, we’re already somewhat familiar with phone call chatter on the train, but are you ready for that to be just about everywhere? How long before nobody says, “I’m on the bridge, so I can only talk a minute,” anymore?
