The Farmers Market at PS 295 (330 18th between 6th and 7th Avenues) is in full swing again, offering delicious seasonal produce. The apples, hearty greens, and lots of other produce are ready for you to enjoy.

The market is run entirely by PS 295 volunteers (parents, caregivers, and teachers) and provides more than just healthy food for the community. Students have the opportunity to help out at the market while learning math, vegetable literacy, small business, and cooking skills.

The Farmers Market is open every Thursday from 2:30-4pm (except for school holidays) and will run through November (an end date will depend on the season’s harvest). You can find the market on 19th Street off of 6th Avenue, on the school’s blacktop, and right behind the playground. The market was launched in 2013 with the support of the Park Slope Civic Council, partnering with organizations such as Just Food to involve students in activities such as cooking demos.

Are you a parent of a student at the school who’s interested in getting involved? Stop by the market or contact market@ps295.org for more information.
