Midwood Library’s Children’s Area To Be Renovated Next Year

MIDWOOD – Located on East 16th Street, just off Avenue J, Midwood Library serves thousands of children each week, and now, thanks to $3.5 million approved by Council Member Greenfield, it’s second-floor children’s area will undergo a full renovation.

“This is one of the best libraries in our community,” Greenfield said. “Thousands of children visit Midwood Library each week, but the children’s floor is inadequate and out of date. That’s why I’m funding a complete, top-to-bottom renovation of the second-floor children’s area.”

Early sketches show plans for more computers, books, and meeting areas, as well as a new play area for the youngest of patrons.

Lest you worry that it is located right by the computers: “We are going to have kid-safe computers with filters. We’re even going to put in a space for stroller parking! I want to make sure that families with small children make visits to Midwood Library a part of their regular lives” Greenfield, who is not running for reelection, promises.

The project is expected to begin sometime during 2018.
