Police Hunt Hit-and-Run Driver Who Killed Woman in Midwood
MIDWOOD – After a woman died on Tuesday from injuries suffered in a Midwood hit-and-run last week, police are searching for the deadly driver that fled the scene of the crime.
Razija Dreskovic was hit by the car as she attempted to cross Avenue P at East 16th Street on Friday, July 27, just after 11:00 pm, said police. She was in the crosswalk when a westbound red sedan struck her while traveling at a high rate of speed.
The 57-year-old suffered head trauma and severe trauma to her left leg, said police. The driver fled in their car, continuing west down Avenue P.
Police and EMS responded to the scene and transported Dreskovic to Maimonides Medical Center, where she was treated until she succumbed to her injuries and died on Tuesday, July 31st.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing, said police, but so far there have been no arrests.
