Methodist Going Back To The Drawing Board With Expansion Plans
After hearing many complaints from neighbors — who also started a petition in opposition — and receiving a rejection from a Community Board 6 committee, New York Methodist Hospital will be presenting a new round of changes to its controversial expansion plans at a public meeting on January 6, 2014.
Methodist hasn’t said what the changes will entail yet, but according to DNAinfo, CB6 has said that “hospital representatives are expected to present revised designs, as well as specific information about how the development would affect traffic.”
CB6 postponed its ultimate decision on whether or not they approve the zoning variance request until after next month’s meeting. The Community Board’s input is merely advisory, however — the Board of Standard and Appeals can take it into consideration, but can approve or deny the hospital’s plans on its own.
