Mess Of The Week: West 7th Street and Bay Parkway

We’ve received a number of e-mails since our last Mess Of The Week, which means we may begin running these more frequently.

A reader sent us the above photo of our first mess for this week, which is situated just across the street from last week’s ‘Wall of Shame’, on the corner of Bay Parkway and West 7th Street.

You can see a trash receptacle overflowing with what looks like a combination of take out food and standard street scraps. Pedestrians have given up on using the already filled garbage can, and have begun placing litter next to it.

I’m not sure why, but someone has apparently moved the pail from the corner to the building’s property line.

On top of the litter problem, this building also has a perversely impressive amount of pigeon droppings in a doorway to the left of the trash basket.

Both problems are unsanitary and need to be addressed ASAP.

We’ll try to bring you an update on this eyesore later in the week. Hopefully, the problem will get resolved as quickly as last week’s.
