Memorial Day Closures Around Park Slope

Memorial Day is this Monday, May 27. Whether you plan to make it a solemn day of remembrance or celebrate extra time with family at the beach, make sure you know what’s closed in the area.

Info on schools, government offices, parking, and sanitation via nyc.gov:

Government offices and courts are closed Monday, May 27th for Memorial Day. There is no mail delivery.
All NYC public schools are closed, Monday, May 27th.
Alternate side parking is suspended. You do not have to pay the parking meter. No stopping, no standing and no parking regulations are suspended except where those regulations are in effect anytime or seven days a week.
There is no garbage or recycling pickup. If Monday is your garbage day, put out your garbage after 5:00 PM Monday evening.  If Monday is your recycling day, wait until next week to put out your recycling.

Subways and Buses

While all trains will be running on a Sunday schedule on Memorial Day (remember that means no B), the MTA is adding extra trains today to help you get out of town–so go!

Libraries

All branches of the Brooklyn Public Library will be closed Saturday, May 25 through Monday, May 27.

Banks:

  • Bank of America (274 Seventh Avenue) will be closed.
  • Citibank (114 Seventh Avenue) will be closed.
  • Chase Bank (444 Fifth Avenue, 159 Fifth Avenue, 127 Seventh Avenue) will be closed.
  • M&T Bank (354 Flatbush Avenue) will be closed.
  • However, TD Bank (269 Fifth Avenue) will be open.
