Two Homicides Close Out Second Week of May
EAST FLATBUSH – Yesterday afternoon, police responded to a call of a man unconscious inside an apartment at 237 East 37th Street, near Church Avenue, in East Flatbush.
Officers arrived just before 3:00 pm on Thursday, May 10, to find a 33-year old man unconscious and unresponsive on the floor of the apartment, with stab wounds to his back, said police. Responding EMS pronounced the man dead at the scene.
The victim’s name has yet to be released pending family notification. An investigation into the homicide is underway, though the medical examiner will make a final ruling on the cause of death.
CANARSIE – The NYPD has confirmed that the victim of a shooting in Canarsie succumbed to his injuries yesterday afternoon and died at Brookdale Hospital.
The 25-year old man, who has yet to be identified, was shot in the head and chest near East 89th Street and Avenue L on Wednesday, May 9, around 7:00 pm, said police. EMS transported him to Brookdale Hospital in critical condition, where he later died.
An investigation into the incident, which has now been ruled a homicide, is underway.
These tragic deaths come close on the heels of a particularly violent first weekend of May, in which four people were killed across the borough.
