Traffic Calming Forum with Mathieu Eugene

Councilman Mathieu Eugene is organizing another traffic calming forum slated for January 31, said Michael Racioppo, chief of staff to Councilmember Mathieu Eugene. The exact time and location is being sorted out by his staff as they invite relevant city agencies such as the Department of Transportation to the meeting.

Many issues were brought up during October’s Traffic Calming Forum including the suggestion to place traffic lights on Cortelyou and Westminster. Today’s announcement that lights are indeed coming to that intersection can be credited in large part to Eugene and all those who attended the last meeting.

However, a number of the issues brought up have yet to be concretely addressed. Of particular note, the many traffic issues plaguing Coney Island Avenue were omitted in a letter sent by Eugene to the 66th Precinct on this very subject.

The January forum is an important chance to further impress the severity of the traffic issues upon city agencies and politicians. We’ll update the blog when Eugene’s office sets a date and location for the meeting.
