Masked Man Steals $170k from a Locked Safe in Midwood

MIDWOOD — Cops are looking for a masked man that entered a brokerage, forcibly unlocked a safe, and stole $170,000 in jewelry and money.

On Friday, November 15 at around 1 a.m., a man entered NYC Medallion Brokers, Inc. located at 1817 Coney Island Avenue between Avenues N and O, which specializes in issuing taxi cab licenses. He entered through what cops describe as an unsecured rear door wearing a mask.

Once inside, he pried open a safe with a pickaxe. When he got the safe to open, he removed jewelry and money worth about $170,000. The man then left in an unknown direction.

Cops describe the suspect as a man last seen wearing a mask and all-dark clothing. You can see the incident transpire in the video released by the NYPD above. We will update once we hear a comment from the brokerage.
