Captain America is coming to Prospect Park and he’s bringing some Marvel-ous friends.

Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams announced that this year’s “A Summer Movie Under The Stars” film series in Prospect Park will feature the blockbuster Marvel superhero movies. The films will be shown tonight and each of the following three Wednesdays at 7pm at Prospect Park’s Long Meadow North.

“I’m excited to see Brooklynites out on summer evenings in Prospect Park to enjoy ‘A Summer Movie Under the Stars’ as we welcome one of our borough’s brightest stars, Captain America, back home to Brooklyn,” said Adams in a statement.

The following movies will be shown:

  • July 27: Captain America: The Winter Soldier
  • August 3: Avengers: Age of Ultron
  • August 10: Captain America: Civil War

The film series celebrates the 75th anniversary of Captain America. The showing on August 10 is of particular significance because that is the same day that a giant statute of Captain America will be temporarily displayed in Prospect Park, replete with a ceremony, despite the somewhat dubious origin story of Cap.

This marks the second annual “A Summer Movie Under The Stars” film series, and like last year, the shows are being presented with the help of the Prospect Park Alliance. The series is co-sponsored by Broadway Stages and Hubert’s Lemonade.
