Marines in Prospect Park on Sunday

The ships arriving for Fleet Week sailed into the New York Harbor Wednesday morning, greeted by a salute from the cannons at Fort Hamilton Army base.

This year fleet week overlaps with Memorial Day weekend and we’ll be following along on Sunday when there will be a Marine Day in Prospect Park, featuring interactive and aviation static displays, demonstrations, and a performance by the USMC Battle Color Detachment.


Event is free and open to the public, and will take place between 9 am and 4 pm near Prospect Park, West Dr. at the intersection of Prospect Park West & Prospect Park Southwest. Below are a few other events taking place on Sunday in Brooklyn, and Military News has the latest full lineup.

Time: 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Location: Brooklyn Cruise Terminal (Red Hook)

  • Ship tours will be held at the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal. All guests over the age of 18 will be required to show a valid photo I.D. Events are free and open to the public.

Event: Fleet Week Follies, 1 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.
Location: National Sawdust Music Venue, 80 N 6th St., Brooklyn
