Man Wanted in Coney Island Baseball Bat Assault on Veterans Day

CONEY ISLAND – Police are looking for a man wanted for beating another man with a baseball bat in Coney Island in the early hours of Veteran’s Day.

The assault took place around 4:00 am on Saturday, November 11, in front of 2869 W. 15 Street, next to the Comforting Church of Christ, off Mermaid Avenue. The suspect attacked his 19-year old male victim with a aluminum bat following a dispute, striking him in the head, police said.

The victim was removed to Lutheran Hospital in serious but stable condition, while the assailant fled the location in an unknown direction, said police. Images captured from surveillance footage can be seen below:

Police describe the suspect as a Hispanic man in his 30s. He was last seen wearing a dark colored jacket over a white shirt and dark colored pants.
