Twenty-five-year-old Gregory Alfred was arrested earlier today in connection with the slashing of 53-year-old Jannina Popko on the morning of March 10th on Beverley Road near Rugby Road.

Popko, who was slashed across the throat and required 13 stitches, said that she was “very lucky and very grateful” that her wound had not been deeper.

NYPD “wanted” posters stated Alfred was being sought for attempted murder.

The NYPD also stated that Alfred had been arrested in 2015 for an earlier assault within the 70th Precinct.

PIX11 reported that Alfred was apprehended in Sayreville, New Jersey last night and was awaiting extradition to New York City. A source within the 70th Precinct confirmed to us that Alfred was caught in New Jersey.
