Man Shot In The Head On E 18th Street & Church Avenue
A man shot in the head on Church Avenue and E 18th Street has been transported to Kings County Hospital in serious condition, says a spokesman for the FDNY. The call was received at 7:02pm, and the victim is not likely to survive.
Unconfirmed reports suggest the victim is about 28 years old (Breaking911), the shooting may have taken place at 57 E 18th Street (AlwaysActions), and the gunman has fled the scene (NYCityAlerts). We will update as we learn more.
Update 10/25: News 12 says a man in a grey jacket was seen running from the scene of the shooting. We have reached out to the 70th Precinct, but have not yet heard back.
Update 10/29: The 70th Precinct tells us the victim was actually shot in the back, and was unable to speak because of a broken jaw from another incident–explaining why he was initially thought to have been shot in the head. He is alive and conscious, and the police are reviewing video of the incident. The investigation is ongoing.
