Man Shot In Back At Sheepshead-Nostrand Houses, Gunman On The Loose

A man was hospitalized after being shot in front of the NYCHA’s Sheepshead-Nostrand Houses on Nostrand Avenue on Saturday, and the gunman remains free, police said.

An unidentified 33-year old-man was shot in the courtyard of 3549 Nostrand Avenue, part of the Sheepshead Bay Houses, at approximately 9:30pm. He was transported to Lutheran Medical Center with a gunshot to his lower back.

The man is expected to survive. Cops set up a crime scene and investigated, but as of Monday morning no arrests were made.

The incident was part of a spate of overnight violence that began Saturday and left more than a dozen injured and one dead in Brooklyn, the Bronx and Queens, according to the Wall Street Journal. The violence began around 8:30pm on Saturday and ended just before 5am on Sunday.
