Man Shot and Killed Outside Bed-Stuy Church
BED-STUY – Last night, a man was shot and killed in front of the Mt. Zion Pentecostal Holy Church on Hart Avenue, police confirmed.
Responding to a 911 call around 8:40 pm on Wednesday, April 18, officers found the unconscious and unresponsive body of Claudell Gary, 37, outside 175 Hart Street, police said. The gunman had fired four shots, striking Gary in the neck and left leg.
EMS rushed the man to Woodhull Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.
Claudell Gary lived in Bed-Stuy, about a block away on Hart Street. While details are scarce, police sources told the Daily News that a witness may have captured part of the shooting incident on a cell phone camera.
So far, no arrests have been made, and an investigation is underway.
