Man Shot And Killed On Flatbush Near Cortelyou This Morning
A man died of a gunshot wound sustained on Flatbush Avenue near Cortelyou Road at about 1:15am, says the Daily News. The 53-year-old, who was temporarily staying with friends in the area, was transported to Kings County Hospital but could not be resuscitated. His name has not yet been released pending family notification.
One witness heard five shots and the man’s friend calling for help. The motive for the shooting is unclear (though the Daily News makes sure to note the victim has a criminal record, the majority of which is for drug possession), but robbery has been ruled out.
The gunman, dressed all in black, was last seen running down Cortelyou. While the paper doesn’t note which direction, News 12 says the shooting was between Cortelyou and Clarendon, which implies he might have been running eastward.
