Man Shot And Killed In Cypress Hills, Another Found Dead In East Williamsburg Apartment

CYPRESS HILLS – A 28-year-old man was shot in the back and killed just before 4:30am on Saturday.

Police responded to a call on September 15 on Grant Avenue between Ridgewood Avenue and Fulton Street. When they arrived, they found the victim with a gunshot wound to his back.

The victim was taken to Jamaica Hospital where he died from his injuries. Police have not yet released the identity of the victim, but the New York Post reports he may have been a member of the Trinitarios, the gang connected to the stabbing death of a 15-year-old in June outside of a Bronx bodega.

Police have made no arrests yet and say the investigation is ongoing.

EAST WILLIAMSBURG – Also on Saturday, at approximately 8:30pm, police responded to a call regarding an unconscious male inside a residence on Johnson Avenue between Varick and Stewart Avenues.

When police arrived, they found 27-year-old Peter Barnes lying on the floor of a bedroom unconscious and unresponsive. According to the New York Daily News, there was a belt around his neck. A NYPD representative has confirmed this.

Barnes was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say no arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing. The NYC Medical Examiner will determine the cause of his death.
