A 71-year-old man waiting for the bus in Dyker Heights ended up hospitalized after a truck, veering out of control from a collision, smashed into the bus stop at the corner of 13th Avenue and Bay Ridge Parkway. The New York Daily News is reporting that one of the drivers in the collision was carrying an expired driver’s licence.

The injured man was identified as James McCloskey of Ovington Avenue. After being rushed to Lutheran Medical Center, his condition was described as critical.

The accident happened just before noon yesterday when a minivan and a 1996 Dodge Ram smashed into each other, sending the Dodge truck into the bus stop where McCloskey was waiting. The driver of the minivan, who was carrying an expired licence, was issued a summons on the scene.

A police investigation is ongoing.
