Man Lying in the Middle of a Brooklyn Street Was Run Over

BED-STUY/BUSHWICK — A 61-year-old man, lying in the middle of the street, was run over on the cusp of Bed-Stuy and Bushwick early Monday.

On Monday, November 18, around 2 a.m., at the corner of  Cornelia Street and Broadway, the elderly man walked off the curb and lied down in the northbound lanes, police said. At that time a dark-colored SUV traveled northbound on the roadway and ran over the pedestrian.

The vehicle continued northbound on Broadway and fled in an unknown direction.

The pedestrian was transported to NYC Health & Hospitals/Woodhull and is in critical condition.

Police say it is not clear yet why the man was laying in the street in the first place and if the driver had known they ran someone over. Currently, police said there are no updates to the investigation.
