Man Robs Cab Driver At Gunpoint, But Not Before Getting Caught On Camera
A dimwitted thief entered a livery cab at Nostrand Avenue and Avenue X, pressed a gun against the driver and demanded cash, jewelry and a free ride to Brownsville on Monday, fleeing after a feeble attempt to destroy the video evidence of his crime.
Now cops, with clear photos in hand, are searching for the suspect, described as a dark-skinned black man, approximately 28 to 38 years old, with a bald head, dark-colored jacket and blue jeans.
The man got in the taxi at 8:30pm and requested a ride to East 98th Street and Church Avenue. While en route, the man whipped out a silver-colored pistol and held it against the 41-year-old driver and demanded cash and jewelry. The victim turned it over, and drove the suspect to his destination. The armed thief then tried to destroy the taxi’s security camera before running off.
The camera was damaged, but not before capturing several crystal clear images of the suspect.
