BOERUM HILL – A Staten Island man was killed in front of the Dunkin’ Donuts on the southwest corner of 4th and Atlantic Avenues Wednesday evening.
Police responded to the scene at approximately 8:20pm on September 20 where they found 47-year-old Steven Vargas unconscious and unresponsive with a stab wound and three gunshot wounds to his chest, a NYPD representative said.
EMS transported Vargas to Brooklyn Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
A witness told the New York Daily News that Vargas bought a cup of coffee at the Dunkin’ Donuts just before the incident. According to the paper, witnesses described the shooter as a white man, in his 50s, with a beard. He was wearing a green shirt, green jacket, and white shorts.
Investigators believe Vargas may have gotten into a dispute with the suspect prior to the incident, the police representative said.
