It has been a violent couple of days on Flatbush Avenue, with a 33-year-old man being shot and killed early Saturday morning and a gunfight sending at least four people to the hospital early Monday morning, according to the NYPD.

The day before Flatbush Avenue filled with thousands of people for the annual Flatbush Avenue Street Fair, 33-year-old Jeffrey Middleton was fatally shot when a gunfight erupted outside 730 Flatbush Avenue, by Parkside Avenue, around 4:15am, the NYPD said.

Police said they found Middleton with a gunshot wound to the head in his Ford Fusion, and he was rushed to Kings County Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. A second victim, a 26-year-old man, later arrived at Methodist Hospital with a gunshot wound to the chin, and he remains in stable condition, police said.

No arrests have been made yet, and the investigation is ongoing.

Middleton’s friends told the Daily News that the 33-year-old victim was going to get some late -night jerk chicken after hanging out with his friends when he was shot.

“This is surreal,” Pierre Baker said to the Daily News. “It’s hard to understand. People sometimes live a certain lifestyle and something like this is not that surprising — but that’s not him.”

Then, early Monday morning, another fight erupted, this time outside the D Avenue nightclub at 673 Flatbush Avenue, located about a block from where Middleton was shot.

Four people were shot and a fifth person was slashed during a fight that broke out around 3am outside the bar, the NYPD said.

According to police, a 30-year-old was shot in the neck, a 34-year-old was hit in the arm, a 24-year-old was shot in the elbow, and a 30-year-old was injured in the thigh, groin and shin. All four were taken to Kings County Hospital and are expected to survive, the NYPD said.

The fifth man who was injured was the 24-year-old bartender, who attempted to break up the fight when someone broke a bottle over his head and slashed him, police said. He refused medical attention, according to police. Brooklyn News 12 reported that after initially refusing medical help, he later sought it, though police told us they could not confirm that.

Pix11 said the owner of D Avenue told them that police are investigating if Middleton’s homicide sparked the shooting.

No arrests have yet been made, and the investigation is ongoing, police said.
