Man Fatally Shot In Lobby Of East Flatbush Building

EAST FLATBUSH – Police responded to a 911 call shortly after 10pm Saturday night, December 2, regarding an assault at 80 East 93rd Street between Rutland Road and East New York Avenue.

When officers arrived, they found 30-year-old Darnell Pettway unconscious and unresponsive in the lobby of the residential building with multiple gunshot wounds to his torso, according to police. EMS transported him to Kings County Hospital where he died from his injuries.

No arrests have been made yet and the investigation is ongoing, but a police representative says a “gambling dispute” may have been the reason for the shooting.
