Man Convicted Of 2015 Fatal Shooting Of 3 In Fort Greene
FORT GREENE – Acting Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez announced yesterday that a 33-year-old Fort Greene resident was convicted of killing three men, including a 76-year-old innocent bystander, near the Ingersoll Houses in Fort Greene in September 2015.
“This defendant callously executed two rivals and, as a result of his violent actions, also took the life of an elderly and completely innocent bystander,” Acting District Attorney Gonzalez said. “He has now been found responsible for this heinous triple homicide, an outcome that will ensure that he will no longer be out on the streets of Brooklyn.”
At approximately 1:45am on September 20, 2015, Allen Cooper fatally shot 39-year-old Lacount Simmons and 43-year-old Calvin Clinkscales as they walked on Fleet Walk near the Ingersoll Houses, according to Gonzalez’s statement. Simmons was shot in the head, back and torso, and Clinkscales was shot in the head and torso. A stray bullet struck a third victim in the abdomen, killing 76-year-old Herbert Brown.
Cooper was filmed running away from the crime scene by a video surveillance camera near the Ingersoll Houses. After receiving an anonymous tip, the NYPD arrested Cooper on April 22, 2016 in Fayetteville, North Carolina.
Cooper was convicted on three counts of second-degree murder and one count of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon at Brooklyn Supreme Court on Tuesday. He will be sentenced on November 14. He faces a maximum sentence of 75 years to life in prison.
