Man Arrested After Stalking 16-Year-Old Girl For Months, Police Say

Police say a man has been arrested for stalking a 16-year-old girl in at least five incidents throughout 2016.

37-year-old Zi Ping Chen of Bay Ridge was arrested on Friday, July 1 at approximately 7pm, according to a police spokesperson. He was arrested near the intersection of Surf and Stillwell Avenues in Coney Island, just across the street from Nathan’s Hot Dogs. Chen was charged with stalking.

In one of the most recent incidents which took place on Friday, April 15 at approximately 8am, the 16-year-old victim boarded a Queens-bound G train at the 4th Avenue-9th Street station. When the subway stopped, the victim exited the train and the suspect remained on board.

Cops say suspect followed her onto the train towards the Fulton Street subway station. When the subway stopped, the victim exited the train and the suspect remained on board.

The 16-year-old had been followed by this individual on four previous separate occasions at multiple subway stations during the months of February, March, and April 2016.
