Police arrested Vincent Squitieri, 35, after he allegedly robbed Astoria Federal Savings Bank at 489 Neptune Avenue, in the Warbasse Shopping Center on Friday.

Squitieri entered the bank and passed a note demanding cash to a teller at approximately 4:30pm on Friday, cops said. The teller complied, forking over an estimated $750, and Squitieri fled on foot.

He was picked up by police shortly after and charged with robbery, police confirmed.

Authorities were unable to provide additional details to this outlet, but a neighbor reports that Squitieri’s heist was foiled in part due to silent alarms and exploding dye packs.

One reader on Facebook wrote, “The silent alarm was pushed … Bills had exploding purple dye on it so when their touched it he got purple all over him. He threw bills into garbage can on west 5th street by crosswalk.”

We will update this post if we receive additional information from authorities.
