This St. Patrick’s Day, the Irish Arts Center is once again spreading the word — quite literally — about Irish and Irish American authors during its annual Book Day.

Dozens of volunteers join Irish Arts Center, the City Council and the New York State Assembly as they take to the streets to celebrate literature and literacy, spreading the love of Irish literature by sharing 5,000 free books (including some Spanish translations) with New Yorkers young and old in 14 locations across all five boroughs.

They’ll be out on Thursday, March 17 from 7am until the books run out.

There are two Brooklyn locations: Target Plaza at Atlantic Terminal Mall and the Northwest corner of 48th Street and 4th Avenue on the B,D,N,R trains in Sunset Park.

You’ll be able to expand your library with some of the most celebrated writers in Ireland — Samuel Beckett, Maeve Binchy, J.P. Donleavy, Emma Donoghue, Anne Enright, Seamus Heaney, Elmear McBride, Colum McCann, Paul Muldoon, Oscar Wilde, and many more.

Find out where else to enjoy a free book from there Twitter feed (#IACBookDay) and Facebook page.
