Do you have a crossing guard you adore? Do your kids speak glowingly about the crossing guard that keeps them safe?

As we near the end of the school year, many individuals get thanked for their hard work. However, crossing guards are the unsung heroes that help to keep the community safe and who, many times, are forgotten amongst the end of the festivities.

Here’s a simple and fast survey that you can fill out to give a shout out.

Keep in mind that the deadline to fill out the survey is Sunday, May 1. Crossing Guard Appreciation Day is Tuesday, May 3.

All you need to do is spend a few minutes identifying your favorite crossing guard and explain why s/he is invaluable.

The survey is sponsored by the Park Slope Street Safety Partnership and Park Slope Parents, who will compile the appreciations/stories and present the crossing guards with a Certificate of Appreciation. Some precincts will host a Crossing Guard Appreciation Breakfast.

You can also send this survey link to the following:

  • Your children’s class email lists
  • The school administration
  • The PTA/PA/PTSO at your children’s school(s)
  • Other online groups
  • Your block associations
  • Anyone that comes into contact with a crossing guard!
