The units are a part of the Fifth Avenue Committee’s FAC Renaissance project which is renovating 21 buildings and providing 146 affordable housing units.

Launched in 1978, the Fifth Avenue Committee is a non-profit community development corporation that owns and manages affordable housing and community facilities, creates economic opportunities, organizes residents and workers, offers adult education, and combats displacement caused by gentrification, according to the organization’s website. The Committee launched the FAC Renaissance project in 2016.

The seven available units include one studio and six one-bedrooms located in four buildings—643 President Street (between 4th & 5th Ave), 579 Warren Street (between 3rd & 4th Ave), 677 and 680 Union Street (between 4th & 5th Ave).

Applicants for the $787/month studio apartment should earn 60% of the Area Median Income (AMI), between $29,451 to $40,080 annually.

Rents for the one-bedrooms range from $642/month to $1,000/month. See the income requirements for these apartments below.

Preference will be given to current residents of Brooklyn Community Board 6 (Carroll Gardens, Cobble Hill, Columbia Waterfront, Gowanus, Park Slope, Red Hook) and municipal employees. A percentage of units will be set aside for applicants with mobility (5%) and vision/hearing (2%) disabilities.

Go to NYC Housing Connect for more info or to apply. Applications must be postmarked or submitted online by Wednesday, April 11, 2018.
