Local Teen Makes Over 400 Fake Calls to 911
Calling 911 is not a joke – and it can result in serious charges if you use it as one. That’s what 16-year-old Dean Whylie of E 22nd St learned recently, when police arrested him for making a total of 404 fake emergency calls to 911 since May of last year.
The New York Post notes that he disguised his voice as a girl’s and called in reports of “police officers needing assistance, shots fired, motor vehicle accidents, and disputes,” with about 329 of the calls reported at locations in the 70 Precinct.
Maybe that’s why some of the response time in our area has been reportedly slow?
