A caregivers support group for those meeting the needs of people living with Alzheimer’s and dementia-related disorders has upcoming sessions in the area.

The New York Memory Center (199 14th Street) is hosting the sessions, in conjunction with the Alzheimer’s Association, NYC Chapter. The group meets twice a month on the first and third Wednesdays, and sessions are free:

Support groups are an important place for caregivers—family members, friends, or helpers—to meet and share information, give and receive mutual support, and exchange coping strategies in relation to caring for a person with memory loss. Trained leaders help members learn ways of dealing with the problems they encounter as caregivers.

Upcoming sessions include tonight, Wednesday, January 21 from 6:30-8pm, and then February 4 and 18 and March 4 and 18.

If you have any questions about the meeting, or if you’re in need of care for your loved one in order to attend the meeting, contact Josephine Brown at 718-499-7701, ext. 21.
