Local Organizations Sponsor Flatbush Reformed Church’s Thanksgiving Lunch
Tomorrow will be the Flatbush Reformed Church‘s Thanksgiving Lunch, and the Flatbush Avenue BID, District 45 Councilmember Jumaane Williams, Shanya’s Restaurant, Stop & Shop, and a slew of volunteers are already hard at work to make sure about 200 of our neighbors have a happy holiday.
The Flatbush Reformed Church’s Reverend Dan Ramm, as well as Aaron Edwards, Stop & Shop manager Pat Larkin, and Claudia Anderson, Shirley Fong, and Sharon McDonald (above, from left) were at the supermarket earlier this week getting turkeys, ham, sweet potatoes, pumpkin pie, and other fixtures of the Thanksgiving meal.
Councilmember Williams is also donating food for the event, and Shayna’s Restaurant will be preparing fresh veggies and rice.
Flatbush Avenue security guard, Louie, helps Sharon McDonald load groceries for the Church into her car.
The Flatbush Reformed Church (890 Flatbush Avenue on the corner of Church Avenue) is still looking for volunteers for tomorrow’s 12pm meal, with food prep starting at 10am and cleanup at 1pm–so if you’re inspired by the actions of our neighbors, local merchants, and elected officials, and you’d like to help out with tomorrow’s meal, give the church a call at 718-294-5140.
