Local Man Found Dead In Kensington

Just after midnight this morning, police say they found a man with deep cuts to his throat in the basement of 546 McDonald Avenue, between Beverley Road and Avenue C in Kensington, after they responded to a 911 call of an assault in progress.

Police say the man, identified as 57-year-old Mahiuddin Mahmud of Westminster Road, was pronounced dead at the scene. Public records show that he was the owner of the McDonald Avenue building. News 12 says he owned People N Tech, a store at 546 McDonald, and that he was the father of two young sons.

There have been no arrests, and the the homicide investigation is ongoing.
